|The Brampton Brewery is located on an industrial estate in premises formerly used by East Midlands Electricity, and opposite the former Chesterfield tramsheds. The brewery has started the Brampton Brewery Club for real ale fans which actually uses a historic Chesterfield Corporation Leyland Panther bus (well, you wouldn't get far on a tram these days), which can be seen on the web album.|
|We learned that the original Brampton Brewery
had been located on more than one site nearby and had built up a sizeable
tied estate before being acquired by Warwicks & Richardson which
itself was absorbed into John Smiths. On the web album which is linked to
this page you can see a restored advertising plaque for the original
brewery and bricks from two local brickworks - working in hot dusty brick
kilns was a thirsty business!
The hospitality area is probably the most sumptuously fitted out that we have visited: being able to offer a venue for events is a significant part of the modern brewery's business.
|Wakefield CAMRA Chairman Mark Goodair holds up a plaque to mark the success of Brampton Aspire (a pomegranate beer) as top speciality beer at the 2008 Wakefield Beer Festival. Head Brewer Chris Radford clutches a certificate commemorating the branch visit.|
