Viva - Las Vegas!
Part #1: In and Around the Strip…
As the chance to pick up late deals on low-priced Flights & Hotels on the Internet gets seemingly easier, the opportunity to get to Las Vegas and lose some money gambling gets ever the more enticing. For those outside the US, it is often quite hard to get details on the BrewPubs (BP) and Beer Bars (BB), so here is a quick guide. Part 1 starts with the area in and around the Strip.
Burger Bar at Mandalay Place (BB)
3930 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89119-1005
#Taps 20+ #Bottles 20
Actually situated between the Mandalay Bay and Luxor Hotels, look for the Chimay sign when walking between them. Upscale burger joint which has a good range of draught beers and one or two decent bottles. Expensive but a good place to impress your loved one with the $60 Rossini Burger served with truffles whilst still being able to enjoy a decent brew.
Chicago Brewing Co. and Cigar Lounge at The Four Queens (BB)
202 Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89101
#Taps 5 #Bottles ?
Despite its name, not a Brewpub but is an outpost for the real thing. Hidden in the corner of the Four Queens, close to Fremont Street and nearby the Lucky 7 Brewpub (see below). Fair prices but only serves a small range of Chicago Brewing beers. A new place that seems to vary in quality. May expand soon.
The International Beer Bar at The Golden Nugget (BB)
129 East Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89101
#Taps 10 #Bottles 40
You won’t escape the Casino style atmosphere in here but it is a decent enough place to grab a wet one from a reasonably decent selection, lots of imports. Open 24/7. Not worth a trek in itself but drop in if nearby.
Monte Carlo Casino Pub & Brewery (BP)
3770 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109
#Taps 7 #Bottles 5
Probably best known Brewpub on the Strip, so if you don’t have a car in Vegas and are staying on the Strip it’s the easiest place to get to. Massive interior with an industrial feel which can range from quiet beer hall to loud night club like feel depending when you visit. Five staple brews plus a seasonal. Beer to Go inbottles. Very Vegas, but always worth a visit.
Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York (BB)
3790 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109
#Taps 24 #Bottles 30
Not even the Strip is devoid of a pseudo-Irish bar. On the ground floor of the NY-NY hotel it is clearly sign-posted and easy to find. Two banks of 12 taps serve around 15 duplicates including the usual offerings. Serves a unique house beer, Ballingarry Stout brewed by Sin City Brewing which was decent enough. Nothing more than you would expect and nothing less, but good for a beer after riding the Manhattan Express Rollercoaster.
Sin City Beer Co. at The Desert Passage (BP)
3667 S. Las Vegas Blvd.Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109
Inside the Aladdin Hotel and Casino (opposite Lucky Brand in the Desert Passage. A rare Brewpub on the Strip, serves only 4 of its own beers but all are brewed to Reinheitsgebot. A little oasis from the madness and searing midday sun. Well worth a visit. May bottle its beers soon.
Triple 7 Restaurant & Brewery at Main Street Station Casino (BP)
200 North Main Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89125
#Taps 8 #Bottles 20
In my mind the best brewpub that is almost on the Strip. The interior will not let you forget that you’re in Vegas but the beer range may. A solid range of home brewed styles including some fantastic specials like Dunkelweizen, Barleywines & Double IPA’s. Quality of the draught beer is very good. A cool place to stay too.

Part #2: Beyond the Strip…
As the chance to pick up late deals on cheap Flights & Hotels on the Web gets seemingly easier, the opportunity to get to Vegas and lose some money gambling gets ever the more enticing. For those outside the US, it’s often hard to get details on BrewPubs (BP) and Beer Bars (BB), so here’s a quick guide. Part 2 completes the areas beyond the Strip.
Big Dog’s Brewing Company / Draft House (BP)
4543 N. Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89130
Plain looking exterior with a large fibre-glass Horse as a sign so easily spotted from the roadside. Always has an excellent selection or around 12 beers on tap and a wide range of high quality styles on tap. Steak House like interior with gambling screens set into the bar tops. Food is excellent and good value. Does a 5 and 10 beer sampler which is well worth trying. Don’t miss the War Dog Imperial Double IPA!! Highly Recommended.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery (BB)
10840 West Charleston Road, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89135
#Taps 16 #Bottles ?
Despite its name this is not a Brewpub. Part of the BJ’s chain, staid looking interior with holding tanks but the beer is brewed elsewhere (BJ’s Arizona I think). Serves its own beers on 7 taps and up to 6 guests on the others.. Typical pub fare. Does Beer Samplers. Not worth a special ride out but
certainly worth a stop if you are passing.
Chicago Brewing Company (BP)
2201 South Fort Apache Road, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89117
#Taps 10 #Bottles ?
Very attractive and extremely well appointed Brewpub. The large Copper Brewery is clearly visible. Has opened out seating area and a separate darkened bar for drinking only. Does a fantastic 9 beer sampler, sample glasses are miniature handled mugs, all very cool. Quality of the beers is top notch, the IPA’s and Weiss are excellent. Good food. Open 24 hours. Highly Recommended.
Crown & Anchor British Pub (BB)
1350 E.Tropicana Ave Las Vegas, Nevada, 89119
#Taps 30 #Bottles 40
Off the Strip but still a good walk, this is the place to get some solid Brit Pub Food if you need it, Curry and Fish & Chips are great. Shows EPL and SPL plus Rugby. 30 taps include many UK brews and US crafts, lots of Sam Smith and Youngs beers in bottles. Pool and Darts if you need it. Pub Motto is ‘Wankers Away”; get the T-Shirt and confuse Americans whilst wearing it. Recommended.
Freaking Frog (BB)
4700 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89119
#Taps 10 #Bottles 500 (truly)
The single weirdest Beer bar that I have ever been in. Zero ambience but a seriously impressive bottled beer list, rare brews can be expensive. Tap beers always includes Belgian and German stuff. Plays classic films on the flat screens. Just Freakin Weird, but do not miss it.
Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant(BP)
3987 Paradise Rd.Las Vegas, Nevada, 89109
#Taps 6 #Bottles -
Close to the strip, easy to walk to. Generic fancy-schmancy corporate Brewpub, part of a large chain, seen one, seen ‘em all. Limited beer range. If yer passing….
Hofbrauhaus – Las Vegas (BB)
200North Main St Las Vegas, Nevada, 89125
#Taps 8 #Bottles 20
Don’t mention the War…..rebuilt copy of the original, only in Vegas. Forget the Strip, no gambling I here, thankfully. Limited range but good quality imported beer. Lots of good German food, beer and oompah. Can get lively. Try the Underberg as an aperitif without using your hands. Cheesy but very easy to enjoy a session in here. Bit pricey though.
Tenaya Creek Restaurant & Brewery (BP)
3101 North Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, Nevada, 89128
#Taps 6 #Bottles ?
Interesting place, strange décor reminds me of the 80’s, lots of Miami Vice wannabes in here. Trendy upscale Brewpub with average beers. Go early though this is 24 hour so anytime will do. Put yer best threads on.
