The Nags Head is no longer a coaching inn and no longer on the A1, but....... |

...................it has some damn fine
locally brewed ales. On the bar are Gold 4.0% a straw coloured hoppy session ale, Classic 3.8% a crisp golden brew with a hint of honey, Comanche 4.4% copper in colour with caramel overtones and Cossack 4.3% a bronze ale with toffee hints. Also brewed is Black Beauty at 4.8% a traditional London-style porter. Just how local? |

Take a look round the back with brewer Dean Penney. We have been told that Dean is/was brewery engineer not so far away at Milestone Brewery. |

It's a six barrel plant previously at
Cathedrals Brewery in Lincoln. Everything just gleams! (It's the same with the fermenters downstairs) From the left, hot liquor tank, mash tun, electrically heated copper |

Brewer Dean Penney explains his philosophy. |
In August 2011 the brewery re-located a short distance to Darlton, just East of Markham.
These photos and many more of the brewery can be seen at higher
resolution on a
