Malthouse Brewery
Malthouse Brewery was founded in Ossett by Matthew Rippon from Horbury who was looking to brew maltier ales as he felt the local market was near saturation for pale hoppy beers, and decided to call his brewery, originally scheduled to be called Annuity Ales, the Malthouse Brewery. The location was Unit 4 Parkway House Development, Ashley Industrial Estate, Wakefield Road, Ossett.

The 4 barrel brewplant came from the basement of the Village Inn at Nailsworth in Gloucestershire, surplus to requirements as now Nailsworth Brewery brews in the pub's outbuildings. When it was first installed the kit sprang loads of leaks and the heaters didn't work properly.
In February 2013: the initial beer range was set and was expected to comprise a 3.8% Blonde beer (a blend of traditional English and German malt with relatively low levels of bitterness and hop character), a 4.4% Old ale (think something between Black Sheep and Theakstons Old Peculier) and a 4% Stout (will have a roast coffee character). The test brews of the Old Ale and the Stout were relatively successful and made their way into casks.
Production was sporadic and we were told of Malthouse beers going to beer festivals outside the county. CAMRA's BLO reported at the beginning of 2014 that brewing had not taken place recently and appeared to have ceased completely.
